Apprentice Referees - U12-U17
‘Apprentice Referee’ Program
Are you thinking of becoming a qualified referee but aren’t quite old enough??
Did you participate and enjoy your experience in last year’s Apprentice Referee Program?
Would you like to earn some money while doing something enjoyable??
Then the ‘Apprentice Referee’ Program is for you.
This is an exciting program at Souths that was introduced in 2009 which will give you the basics of refereeing without additional travel requirements for your parents. It is ideally suited to players and siblings aged between 12 and 15 years of age.
A short introductory session will be held and run by qualified referees who also happen to be members at Souths! After this, you’ll be allocated Under 8, Under 9, Under 10 and/or Under 11 home games which will coincide with your own home games. Mentors will monitor progress and be available for advice and support.
The course is FREE and gives you the opportunity to learn the basics before taking on being in control of competitive games.
Earn up to $8 for an Under 8 or Under 9 game and $11 for an Under 10 or Under 11 game.
Depending on experience, confidence and availability, Apprentice Referees (13+ years of age), may have an opportunity to run a line for Divisional (Souths Home) games. This will only be under the guidance of a qualified official referee.
The introductory session will be held on Sunday 19 February 2012 between 2pm and approx 4pm at the clubhouse. Numbers are limited.
